What can i do for orphanages?

I respect Ankhaa who found The Brothers’ and Sisters’ Union of Mongolia.

Overview of the Mongolian Brothers’ and Sisters’ Union:

The Brothers’ and Sisters’ Union (АЭДХ) is a non-government association located in Mongolia that represents the interests of Mongolian orphanages and each child that resides in them. Founded in 2013, and motivated out of desire to achieve better outcomes for our precious children, АЭДХ believes in the power of care, love and education. Ever...y Mongolian child who comes through an orphanage, whatever their circumstances, deserves a happy childhood and a bright future.

Unfortunately, АЭДХ cannot provide that happy childhood and bright future to all Mongolian children who stand in need. Each year, 20 to 30 children leave the care of our orphanages, with many of them having no family to return to, or anywhere to go. They lack the skills and knowledge necessary to support themselves and often fall into vicious cycles of unemployment, alcoholism, drug abuse, homelessness, violence and crime. Many are forced to spend the extreme winters underground near Ulaanbaatar’s heated pipelines, living in heartbreaking conditions and vulnerable to the numerous dangers associated with homelessness. The АЭДХ is committed to reversing this situation.
At present, our orphanages are suffering from a lack of funding, so we are often unable to provide the support and guidance our children desperately need. Despite this, we have established a small-scale, for-profit shoe-making studio in Ulaanbaatar.

Currently, seven children work here, earn an income and learn the essential skills they need to become expert craftsman and craftswomen. It teaches them the value of gainful employment and teamwork, and builds their confidence through the positive direction of our dedicated teachers. But, this alone is sadly not enough.

There are an incredible number of highly talented children that come through our orphanages. Some are beautiful singers and musicians, some are stunning dancers, some are brilliant artists, and some are academically gifted. Many of them lack the money to fund further education at Mongolian universities and institutes, so their talents go unrealised. The АЭДХ wishes to help these children to achieve their aspirations. We require assistance to fund the tuition fees and learning materials that these children cannot afford.

Therefore, the АЭДХ is very interested in hearing from potential donors—government and non-government—who would like to contribute to a sustainable future for our children. We need the assistance of donors who are willing to give not only funds, but their partnership and commitment to our children. Too often, we see promising children lost to hopelessness after they exit our orphanages, despite our best efforts. We need donors who want to end this, and help our children to fulfil their dreams and achieve the life they deserve.

If you or your organisation would like more information or is interested in becoming a donor, please contact Bat-Erdene on 88002624 or gabierdene [at] gmail.com.
